Irritable bowel syndrome

Irritable bowel syndrome is something that can result as a symptom of thyroid problems. What is this situation? It is a functional gastrointestinal disorder in which certain characteristic symptoms are experienced (some are mentioned on this page). This circumstance is often abbreviated as IBS, and in some cases is referred to as spastic colon.


Various symptoms can show up in a person with IBS. Amongst characteristic symptoms, bloating and discomfort, as well as chronic pain in the abdomen are some possibilities. Other symptoms, such as diarrhea, may occur. On the other end of the spectrum, constipation is also possible. An example of this is the bacteria known as Helicobacter pylori.


Once a doctor makes a diagnosis of IBS, he may offer a particular treatment method.
